Synonyms ATR1; CSNU1; D2h; NBAT; RBAT; SLC3A1; Solute carrier family 3 member 1; b(0),+-type amino acid transport protein
DT Family rBAT Transport Accessory Protein (rBAT) Family ;
Tissue Specificity Expressed in the brush border membrane in thekidney (at protein level). Predominantly expressed in the kidney,small intestine and pancreas. Weakly expressed in liver.
Function This transporter mediates the high-affinity, sodium-independent transport of cystine and neutral and dibasic amino acids (system B(0,+)-like activity). Involved in the high-affinity reabsorption of cystine in the kidney tubule.
Endogenous Substrate(s) Cystine
